The recorded results were nothing less than impressive, with a total amount of <strong>12,470 k<\/strong>g of collected materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recyclable Materials:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The amount of recyclable materials collected from the Just Go Zero recycling points installed at the EXPO, the starting point and the finish line of the Authentic Marathon race, was significant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plastic: 7,897 kg<\/li>\n<li>Paper: 2,190 kg<\/li>\n<li>Wood: 1,352 kg<\/li>\n<li>Aluminum: 34kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The recycling of all materials at the Polygreen\u2019s certified facilities in Aspropyrgos, Attica, will result in saving energy equivalent to 54,833 kWh and reducing CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions by 59,13 kg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organic Waste:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The organic waste produced at the Marathon Expo amounted to a total weight of 351 kg. Upon collection, it was transferred to Polygreen\u2019s MegaECO certified facilities where it will be converted into 193 kg of compost.<\/p>\n<p>The conversion of organic waste to compost diverts the amount of biowaste deposited to landfill leading to the minimization of environmental impact. Also, the compost reduces the use of harmful mineral fertilizers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clothing: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Athletes and visitors of the Marathon EXPO responded to the open call of Just Go Zero, for collection of clothes and shoes that they no longer use, resulting to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>33,4 kg of clothes<\/li>\n<li>72,5 kg of shoes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just Go Zero by Polygreen also collected all clothing that were left behind at the starting point of the Authentic Marathon race by the athletes, a total amount of 540kg!<\/p>\n<p>All pieces will be forwarded for reuse and upcycling.<\/p>\n<p>Athanasios Polychronopoulos, CEO of Polygreen stated \u201cWith the participation of Polygreen and Just Go Zero in the 39<sup>th<\/sup> Authentic Marathon of Athens, a new day begins for the circular economy in Greece.
