MegaEco has received the highest Eurocert certification

* The outstanding environmental performance of MegaEco, Just Go Zero’s organic waste treatment plant, has been recognized by Eurocert, which awarded it the highest Platinum label, based on the “Zero Waste to Landfill” standard.

Athens, 14 February 2022 – MegaEco, the organic waste treatment unit of the Just Go Zero platform, has received Eurocert’s highest certification “Zero Waste to Landfill Platinum”. This certification confirms in the most official way the outstanding environmental performance of the unit and in particular the fact that 100% of the waste it manages is recycled, with nothing ending up in landfills.

Based in Megara, Attica, MegaEco is the largest composting facility with a circular production flow in Greece and one of the largest in Europe and is the recipient of all organic waste collected by Polygreen through its Just Go Zero platform. This certification follows the strictest national and international standards and is awarded to organizations for the circular management of all waste streams. To assess MegaEco, the body examined the company’s production process as well as the waste generated by the company and its staff. In more detail, Eurocert certifies that, during the production process at the plant, the incoming materials are carefully sorted so that after processing there are no impurities with foreign bodies and, therefore, clean contents and correspondingly clean packaging materials are received and advanced for recycling.

Referring to the certification, Mr. Nikos Panteliadis, General Manager of the plant said: “MegaEco’s certification with the highest Platinum category according to the “Zero Waste to Landfill” standard demonstrates in practise the full implementation of the principles of circular economy in our plant, which is, after all, the core of the activity not only for MegaEco but also for the whole Polygreen Group. Minimising the waste produced and shifting to a circular economy model is now a one-way street for businesses and we have developed innovative solutions that can support them in reducing their environmental footprint.”
